Flavors of Libertarianism

Matthew Rothschild explaining what it means to be progressive:

I believe in government as having a necessary role, both to protect people and also to buffer people from the forces, the cruel forces of the market—in this day and age, the cruel forces of huge corporations.


Rothschild makes some points that libertarians should be able to agree with, but he does it with a very different overall aim – one that would turn many libertarian stomachs. Do left-libertarians and right-libertarians recognize one another as libertarians? Should they?

Could we use a list of one’s favorite Amendments as a libertarian litmus test? Rothschild’s list appears on the first page of this transcript. Compare it with your own. What are the Amendments you wish more Americans (and maybe the government) would revere?
